Founded in 2001, Metropolitan School of the Arts is a uniquely innovative arts education establishment located just south of Washington DC, on a mission to launch students who change the world, by reaching their fullest potential as artists, innovators and generous citizens.
Our divisions include:
The Academy: A cutting edge secondary school for young artists in grades 7-12 that provides conservatory style arts training in dance, music and theater alongside a fully accredited, college preparatory academic curriculum.
The Studio: A nationally recognized, pre-professional arts training program offering classes and lessons in dance, theater and music for students of all ages. The studio also offers a fitness program for adult students and an extensive summer arts program.
The Companies: Three pre-professional youth dance companies, Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble and iMpulse Jazz company create and perform works that inspire and motivate excellence.
Metropolitan Home School Program: a translation of our high caliber performing arts training for home school students meets once a week and produces its own musical theater performance each year.
