The Fairfax Choral Society under the direction of Artistic Director Thomas Colohan is the largest choral organization in Northern Virginia serving more than 400 singers in twelve choral ensembles. The auditioned, 80-member adult Symphonic Chorus presents a season of 5–6 concerts of masterworks and contemporary works. In its 2018-19 inaugural season, the 130-member adult Vocal Arts Ensemble under the direction of Michael Erlich is presenting sold out concerts that explore genres including folk, spirituals, and jazz.
The FCS Youth Program under the direction of Patrick Vaughn guides nearly 200 singers ages 5–19 in expanding their vocal experience in auditioned choral and music education programs. Ten youth ensembles meet in locations throughout Fairfax County including Annandale, Centreville, and Vienna. The Youth Choruses present 7 concerts including new commissions, classical, folk, and contemporary works.
