Bridget Anthony-Hlioui

Bridget Anthony-Hlioui’s art is a journey to find solace and connection that often features simplicity through complexity. She creates art in a variety of mediums including mixed media, painting, photography, and ceramics. The theme of complexity frequently appears with patterns developed using layers, tessellation, symbols, and color. Her modern landscape photography is riddled with patterns either expressed through digitally manipulated techniques or the discovery of a straight shot that has lent its own compelling visual depth.

The process, or journey, to discover her art has taken on a therapeutic role in her life. Motifs and subject matter teeter between the natural and man-made as she explores her surroundings, from the United States to Tunisia, and their relation to her awareness of the spiritual and ever-present Divine.

Bridget graduated from The Corcoran School of Art with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography in 1993. She is an advocate for art as therapy having lived and witnessed its benefits while teaching children in private schools in Virginia. Bridget’s most recent mixed media paintings were exhibited at the March 150 show, held at the Target Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. Bridget’s photography has been featured at The Corcoran Gallery of Art, and at Columbia University, in the show, “The Curvilinear and The Abstract: Islamic Art of the 21st Century”.

Bridget resides with her husband and children in Alexandria, Virginia.
