Since forming in 1971, The Seldom Scene has brought fiery musicianship and soulful invention to original songs, traditional bluegrass and reinterpretations of artists like Merle Haggard and James Taylor. Their adventurous approach helped loosen bluegrass from its straight-ahead roots, expanding the genre’s possibilities while preserving the intimacy, energy and exuberance that have defined their live performances for more than five decades. Their influence helped pave the way for today’s bluegrass boom.
