CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT PAINTER
Born in Urümqi, Xinjiang, China in 1958.
Xu Weixin graduated from Xian Academy of Fine Arts in 1981 and received his Master’s degree from the China Academy of Art in 1988.
He served as Professor and Executive Vice Dean of the School of Arts at Renmin University of China, and is a member of the China Oil Painting Society and the Oil Painting Art Committee of the China Artists Association.
Xu is internationally recognized for his portraits of workers and miners, as well as his large-scale historical series exploring memory, history, and human dignity.
His works have been exhibited in China, the United States, Switzerland, and many other countries, including the Guangzhou Triennial, Beijing International Biennale, and Chengdu Biennale.
His paintings are held in numerous public and private collections at home and abroad.
