Founded in 2022 and based in Herndon, Virginia, Artists in Motion dba Alchemy Ballet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing dancers of all ages and abilities with meaningful opportunities to engage in the creation of world-class, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary performances. Through innovative productions and inclusive outreach programs, AIM reaches diverse audiences and fosters connection, understanding, and compassion through the transformative power of the arts.
With an eye to celebrating diverse cultures and traditions of music and dance, Alchemy performances have featured live music by award-winning recording artists including Seán Heely and Abbie Palmer, Chao Tian, Lynn Veroneau and Ken Avis, Munit Mesfin from Ethiopia, Arco y Aire, Gerdan from Ukraine, among many others. Guest dancers include Leona Takada, Dashdoj Natsagdori, Mauricio Stengel, Nasrullah Abdur-Rahman, Ariel Martinez, percussive dancers Baakari Wilder and Agi Kovacs, Urban Artistry, El Grupo Folklórico, Kalanidhi Indian dance company.
