To Be Saved by Song
New Dominion Chorale’s fall concert, To Be Saved by Song, features choral works both new and old, accompanied by full orchestra and two soloists: soprano Fotina Naumenko and baritone Collin Power. The program starts with an invitation to share in the mystery of music’s power with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ lush Serenade to Music. Next, a new, multimedia work by Jocelyn Hagen, Messages from Everywhere, conveying the beauty of the natural world through music. The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’ lovely Ein deutsches Requiem, bringing the power of music full circle, as it both conveys the sanctity of death and offers great comfort to those left behind.
