For more than 50 years, Tephra ICA has been a gathering place for contemporary art, artists, and the community. Operating two galleries at Reston Town Center, the non-profit arts organization presents 6 exhibitions annually of the work of local, national, and international artists and over 30 public programs. The word “tephra” refers to the volcanic material that settles after an eruption, nourishing and transforming the surrounding landscape. This idea reflects the organization’s belief in the transformative power of contemporary art and their role in connecting Reston and Northern Virginia with contemporary art, artists, and the broader art world. Admission to the gallery is free Wednesday-Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, as are most programs.
