The improvisers behind the Resonance Improv Alliance formed the project out of a desire to use our improv skills to build connection in our community. In a world where headlines and work dominate our daily conversations, we found an oasis in play. Decompress with us at one of our shows or open jams to experience the joy that comes from playful human connection.
Our Mission
Inspire and empower individuals to build connection through the principles of improv comedy.
We execute our mission in two important ways.
1️⃣ By Supporting Improvisers
Connecting improvisers to each other.
We noticed that classes in the area were creating a cohort of trained adult improv actors, with little opportunity in the suburbs to practice, play, and perform. Resonance Improv supports improvisers by creating public performance opportunities and connecting improvisers to other players.
2️⃣ By Serving the Community
Connecting improvisers to community need.
We noticed that many adult students felt invigorated by improv, in many ways demonstrating that this is not only about having fun. Our personal transformative experiences with improv motivated us to manifest more opportunities to serve the community. Resonance does this by hosting public open comedy jams, offering fundraising shows for nonprofit organizations, offering community improv workshops for social, civic, and special need organizations, and working to form partnerships with arts organizations and schools to reach youth.
