Map your arts organization’s path for future

The ArtsFairfax WORK-SMART Program is designed to inspire and teach best practices and innovative approaches to increase sustainability and capacity. Previous topics have included: marketing, access, board development, how to create a thriving workplace, and GAAP changes.

Overview of the FY2022 Program

The COVID-19 pandemic, subsequent economic fallout, and social justice movement have shone a spotlight on the cumulative disadvantages the most vulnerable members of our community face. As we work to reimagine a future that ensures all people, regardless of race or income, have the opportunity to engage in the arts, we have reached an inflection point to rethink how our arts organizations and programs engage our diverse community.

The 2022 ArtsFairfax WORK-SMART workshops focus on building inclusion, diversity, equity, and access into the arts sector recovery. Fairfax County takes pride in its diverse community, yet the leadership and programming of our arts organizations often does not reflect our demographics. By engaging a strong team of advisors and designing a series of community conversations, free workshops, and cohort learning lead by experts in the field, we will make progress in our vision of arts for all.

Community and arts organizations will be invited to discuss challenges and needs in a learning cohort facilitated by a DEIA expert. Interested organizations may apply to the learning cohort in February.
