The first-ever Taste of Annandale celebration will showcase local restaurants during a daylong family-friendly event aimed at building community spirit, engaging young people, and promoting local businesses.
A portable stage will be set up offering live entertainment from music and dance groups representing a mix of cultures. Other activities being planned include a chili cook-off pitting Fairfax County police officers against firefighters; cooking demonstrations; and a children’s corner with games, crafts, and storytelling.
The idea for the Taste of Annandale grew out of the Annandale Youth Engagement Community Planning Group, which has been working on developing an initiative targeting local youths. Revenue generated by the Taste of Annandale will benefit the newly created Annandale Youth Fund, which will support youth-led projects to enhance the quality of community and civic life in Annandale.
