Elton John and Lee Hall’s musical adaptation of the acclaimed 2000 film is a powerful and heartwarming story set during the 1984-85 miners’ strike in northern England. “Billy Elliot” follows the journey of Billy, an 11-year-old boy from a working-class family, who unexpectedly discovers a deep passion for ballet and in the process brings hope, resilience and acceptance to a community worn down by hardship.
