Time commitment: February through May 2022; 4 – 8 hours per week depending on activity needs.  This position has the potential of being renewed two times (June-Sept, Oct-Feb).

Position Reports to: Director of Public Information &/or President & CEO

ArtsFairfax (Arts Council of Fairfax County, Inc.) is a 501c3 local arts service organization that promotes the arts in Fairfax County and provides arts information services to the arts community and general public. We provide direct grants to arts organizations and artists in all disciplines and connect the arts with the greater community through public art, artists residencies, educational workshops and creative collaborations. We produce arts related master plans and collect and disseminate arts related data to share with all constituents and to advocate for arts funding and supportive policies. We strive to make the arts accessible to all and advance the creative landscape for a prosperous Fairfax County.

Project Description:

Americans for the Arts begins its sixth Arts Economic Prosperity Report in March 2022.  This is a national economic impact study that is conducted every five years.  ArtsFairfax works with AftA to gather Fairfax County arts data and arts program attendee exit survey data. The intern will participate in AEP cohort, training, and launch meetings conducted by Americans for the Arts; work with ArtsFairfax staff to determine participating arts organizations; connect with organizations to collect financial and other info; use AftA survey instruments to conduct arts programming exit surveys as needed for the Study.

Skills Needed:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of statistical data gathering and web-based survey instruments.
  • Ability to read and pull data from financials.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
