Job Overview

Join our dynamic communications team to promote arts organizations, musicians, dancers, and other performers in Fairfax County. The Arts Administration intern will have the opportunity to work directly under the Digital Media and Outreach Manager to assist and lead on an extensive arts directory project. The output of this research will be useful information about organizations, artists, branding, and marketing to present to our CEO, Board of Directors, and staff.

ArtsFairfax is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, incorporated in 1964 as Fairfax County’s designated local arts agency. ArtsFairfax is funded in part by Fairfax County, as well as corporations, foundations, individuals, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

 

As an intern for our Communications team, you will:

 

  • Gather materials from artists and arts organizations from Fairfax County;
  • Write and edit materials;
  • Upload content to website and serve as a backup arts directory webmaster;
  • Build and maintain artists and arts organizations contact lists;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Work Experience

  • At least one year of undergraduate education in a communications or digital marketing related field;
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Word Press, and Constant Contact is a plus;
  • Excellent written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are required;
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project);
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Skills & Work Experience

  • Relevant work experience (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs)

Hours: Part-time, 10 hours per week. Flexible.

Location: Work will be in-person. ArtsFairfax is located at 2667 Prosperity Avenue, Fairfax Virginia 22031, 3 blocks from the Dunn Loring/Merrifield metro stop on the Orange Line.
