Virginia Chamber Orchestra

Virginia Chamber Orchestra

The Virginia Chamber Orchestra (VCO) is dedicated to reaching the broadest possible audience with engaging performances that meet the highest artistic standards. To serve the dramatically expanding population of the Tysons area the VCO has moved its performance home to the impressive new Capital One Hall, where it opened the 2021-22 season with a 50th Anniversary Gala and Concert. Spring and fall ensemble concert series in Vienna’s Meadowlark Botanical Gardens further expand the reach.

Led by Music Director David Grandis, one of three prize winners at the 28th International Conductors Workshop and Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, the VCO is unique among Northern Virginia-based orchestras in having engaged and fully compensated only professional players since it was founded in 1970.

Outstanding quality and creative programing draw diverse, enthusiastic audiences from across the Metro Area. Annual collaborative concerts provide opportunities for musicians in college orchestras, currently from the William and Mary Symphony Orchestra, to rehearse and perform with the VCO’s experienced players.
