Overview

Artist Grants recognize Fairfax County artist’s individual achievements and demonstrated history of accomplishments. Awards are $5,000 each.

Eligibility

Artists residing in Fairfax County may apply. ARTSFAIRFAX awards this grant to artists in all disciplines, including:

  • Choreography
  • Creative writing
  • Dance performance
  • Film & new media
  • Music composition
  • Music performance
  • Theater performance
  • Visual arts

 

Application Review Process

Artist Grants are awarded through a competitive process. Staff review each application to ensure its completeness and the applicant’s eligibility. Then, applications are reviewed by panels composed of arts professionals with experience in a variety of disciplines.

 

The panel meetings where each application is discussed and rated are open to the public, and applicants are encouraged to attend and observe. Following the panel meetings, the Grants Committee, a standing committee including members of the ARTSFAIRFAX Board of Directors, makes funding recommendations based upon the panel’s scores for approval by the ARTSFAIRFAX Board of Directors.
