Brian Taylor Goldstein, serves as board member of the Board of Directors at the Arts Council of Fairfax County, and is also one of the principals in the law firm of Fettmann, Tolchin and Majors, PC (FTM Arts Law). The prestigious 2010 Yates Award for Arts Advocacy was given to FTM Arts Law on Monday, January 11, 2010 in New York City during the 2010 Association of Performance Arts Presenters National Conference.
FTM ARTS LAW HAS BEEN CHOSEN BY THE ASSOCIATION OF PERFORMING ARTS PRESENTERS AS THE 2010 RECIPIENT OF THE SIDNEY R. YATES ADVOCACY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF THE PERFORMING ARTS. The Sidney R. Yates Advocacy Award is given to an individual or an organization for a particular advocacy effort or for a sustained advocacy campaign at the national, state or local level that has had a significant impact on the performing arts. The award honors New York Congressman Sidney R. Yates, who died in October 2000 at the age of 91 and whose commitment to the arts was legendary. Past recipients of the Sidney Yates Award have included Billy Taylor (2008), Senator Edward M. Kennedy (2007), Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (2006), the Wallace Foundation (2005), and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (2003).
