About the Uphoff Scholarship Program:

Howard Uphoff, who was born in 1909, wanted to study art when he graduated from high school but could not afford the tuition.  At the age of 59, Howard revisited his dream to become an artist.  Taking day and evening classes, he worked hard and became a prolific artist in the Washington DC area mounting many successful one-man shows and exhibitions while winning local recognition.

When the Arts Council of Fairfax County was given the wonderful gift by Howard Uphoff's daughters, the Arts Council established this scholarship fund to assist high school students in their fulfillment of their dream for artistic training.

You can learn more about the program here.
