*  Opening week highlights the scope, diversity, and quality of Wolf Trap, with Sheryl Crow, A.R. Rahman, Kool & The Gang and Chaka Khan, A Prairie Home Companion, and the annual Free Summer Blast-Off! concert and fireworks with the United State Marine Band.
*  Summer 2015 features 72 Filene Center performances, including 39 artist debuts; plus 32 Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods shows and 13 performances by Wolf Trap Opera.
*  Season concludes with Wolf Trap Ball, hosted by Italian Embassy, on stage at the Filene Center September 19.

b2ap3_thumbnail_CBT-Mary-Carmen-Catoya-Dancing-small.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_CBT-Lauren-Edson-Dancing.jpgClassical Ballet Theatre invites serious ballet dancers in the Washington Metropolitan Area to a one-week, summer dance intensive with two renowned artists – Mary Carmen Catoya, a Principal Dancer with Miami City Ballet, and Lauren Edson, a highly awarded choreographer and former company member of the Trey McIntyre Project.

Held August 31st-September 4th, 2:00 pm-9:00 pm, the intensive is designed for current professional dancers and professional track students with at least four years of ballet technique training, and it includes instruction by Ms. Catoya and Ms. Edson each day. It also involves an exciting, optional opportunity to be part of original choreography that Ms. Edson will create exclusively for Classical Ballet Theatre. All dancers participating in choreography are required to rehearse and perform the premiere of Ms. Edson's new work.

Peled will play Schumann Cello Concerto with the WCO on the Goffriller Cello once owned by the legendary cellist Pablo Casals! The Washington Chamber Orchestra, under Artistic Director, Jun Kim will open the concert with Beethoven's Youthful Symphony No.1 in C Major !  http://www.thewco.org/

At a public hearing on Tuesday, April 26th, Mayor Lisa Merkel and the Town Council unanimously passed the Town's FY16 operating budget, which included an amendment to fully fund the grant requests of the Town's four major non-profit arts organizations. Those organizations include the Herndon Council for the Arts, the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts, NextStop Theatre Company and Herndon Community Television.
