Three new exhibitions open at MPA this September

The McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) presents three new fall exhibitions featuring contemporary artworks by prominent local artists John M. Adams, Color Riffs, and Robin Rose. Curated by Nancy Sausser, the exhibitions display three intriguing artistic approaches that will captivate gallery visitors. The public is invited to attend the free opening reception on September 10, from 7pm – 9pm.

Alden Theatre in McLean Announces 2015-2016 Season

Sleeping beautyThe Alden in McLean announces its upcoming season of national and international touring artists. Professional artists from the worlds of comedy, dance, theatre, music, jugging, children's theatre and more will visit the 383-seat performing arts venue located inside the Beltway and minutes from downtown DC. Tickets for all season performances will go on sale online at the Alden's website www.aldentheatre.org on Saturday, Aug. 1. The Alden is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue, inside the McLean Community Center.

Arts Council Awards 17 Project Support Grants totaling $112,080

Seventeen Fairfax County non-profit arts organizations have been awarded Project Support Grants totaling $112,080 from the Arts Council of Fairfax County. FY16 funded projects offer a variety of arts disciplines to Fairfax County residents and visitors ranging from an interactive art installation created from a variety of materials such as LED lights and ordinary household objects; family friendly, educational ballet performances integrating audience feedback into the shows; and a Korean festival that includes traditional dance demonstrations, contemporary upbeat sounds of DJ remixes and K-POP (Korean pop) music.

July 23 is the deadline for "Imagine Your Parks," a funding collaboration of the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service to support projects that use the arts to engage people with memorable places and landscapes of the National Park System. This NEA/NPS collaboration celebrates the NEA's 50th anniversary in 2015 and the National Park Service's centennial in 2016.
