Josh DeWeese is an Assistant Professor of Art teaching ceramics at Montana State University in Bozeman, and a former Resident Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana serving from 1992-2006. This exhibition will include ceramic pieces that have been thrown and then altered. DeWeese work seeks to make pottery an expressive art form in a contemporary context.

This workshop will include demonstrations of throwing, altering and constructing a variety of pottery forms, and will include discussion of issues involved with making pottery as an expressive art form in a contemporary context. Information concerning clay bodies, glazes, and firing techniques will be shared. Slide lectures will include historical and contemporary references as well as a historical account of the Archie Bray Foundation and its contribution to the field of ceramic art.
