JUROR
BEATRICE GRALTON is the Evelyn S. Nef Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. At the Corcoran, she has organized A Love of Europe: Highlights from the William A. Clark Collection, January 30 – April 25, 2010 and Turner to Cezanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales, January 30 – April 25, 2010. Prior to her role at the Corcoran she managed the Cultural Program at the Embassy of Australia,Washington D.C. Beatrice worked at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra as Associate Curator of Australian Painting & Sculpture, and Exhibitions Coordinator of Australian Art and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art. At the National Gallery of Australia she coordinated and assisted the development of over 35 exhibitions including Ocean to Outback: Australian Landscape Painting 1850–1950, and The National Sculpture Prize and Exhibition 2005, 2003, 2001. Beatrice has a BA (Honors 1) from the Australian National University, Canberra

R U L E S
WORKS INSPIRED BY THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE, EXPLORATION OR UTOPIAN VISIONS ARE SOUGHT.

ELIGIBILITY All Mid-Atlantic artists (DC,VA, MD, PA, NJ, DE,
WV) are invited to submit up to four digital images (jpegs) of 2 or
3-dimensional, installation or video works completed within the last
two years and not previously exhibited at MPA. Works that move
beyond traditional forms and media are encouraged. Works must fit
through a 81" x 65" doorway.

AWARDS Cash prizes totaling $1,500 will be awarded by the
juror. Decisions are final.

ENTRY FEE $25. Fee waived for current MPA members. Fee
includes one-year artist membership in MPA. Make checks payable
to McLean Project for the Arts.

IMAGES Artists may submit up to four digital images on a CD
or up to 10 minutes of recorded material. Please do not email
submissions.

SALES A 25% sales commission will be retained by MPA on all
sales. Work will be sold at the price listed on the typed image
checklist unless marked Not For Sale (NFS).

LIABILITY Works are insured for the sales price minus the commission
or the stated insurance value from receipt of artwork
at the gallery through designated pick-up date and time.

SHIPPING Artists are responsible for shipping artwork (delivery
and pick-up) to and from MPA according to the calendar.

INSTALLATION All works must be received ready for installation
with proper hanging devices attached and instructions where
necessary. MPA reserves the right to refuse any work that is
improperly presented or unsafe for display.

AGREEMENT All accepted works must remain for the duration
of the show. MPA reserves the right to photograph accepted works
for publicity and educational purposes. MPA or the juror reserves
the right to reject works that differ from the submitted image.
MPA is not responsible for works left after the pick-up dates
following the close of the exhibition. Submission of an entry
constitutes understanding and agreement with all the conditions
set forth in this prospectus.

CALENDAR
April 12 Deadline for submission receipt (5 pm)
Late April Artists will be notified by email or postcard
of juror’s decisions. Please do not call.

June 6 Delivery of accepted art (2 – 5 pm)

June 17 Exhibition opening.

Reception and gallery talk (7 – 9 pm)

Each image should be labeled with the artist’s last name, first name and image number (example, smith.jane1.jpeg).  Cover and disc must both be labeled with artist’s name, title of piece, length and year created.

The Founder’s April Exhibition (A juried exhibition)

Judge:  Patricia MacIntyre
Ms. MacIntyre, founder of LRA and benefactor for this exhibit. MacIntyre is a graduate of Corcoran School of Art.  She is the owner of Reston Art Gallery and Studios (RAGS) in addition to being a board member of the Council for the Arts of Herndon ; Cultural Arts Center Foundation; and  chair of Art in Public Places program.  She is also teacher at Reston Children’s Center and Reston Museum.  Pat is CFO of MEDA Inc., a family business that manufactures magnetometers for geophysicists and space.

Other judges will be several of the original founders of LRA.

Deadlines:   March 25th -  Entries due via website or email to Exhibits.LRA@gmail.com April 1st,  9am – 10am – Drop off and hanging April 11th – 2pm – 4pm – Reception and Awards
April 30th  - 9am – 10am – Pick-up

Judge: Daniel Wise
Mr. Wise, a native of Colorado, makes his home in the Washington, D.C. metro area. He is a fine artist and teacher who paints many subjects including the figure and portraits but his muse is the landscape. His paintings have been exhibited nationally, received many awards, and are found in private, corporate, and public collections. Wise is a charter member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters and a signature member of both the Pastel Society of America and Maryland Pastel Society.

Deadlines:  May 21st – Entry form with images via website or email to  Exhibits.LRA@gmail.com May 28th – Artists notified of acceptances.
 June 1st – 9 – 10am – Drop Off
June 13th  – 2-4pm – Reception
