The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday backed a $250 million plan to build a streetcar line from the Skyline development in Baileys Crossroads to Pentagon City nearly five miles away. The board’s 7-2-1 vote in favor of the preferred streetcar alternative follows the Arlington County’s board unanimous support on July 23 of the same proposal.

In today's news on WAMU, Fairfax County and Arlington County are approving the build-out of the street car line on Columbia Pike, connecting Pentagon City and end in the Skyline area.
"We need to get it to Skyline, prove its viability, and then expand it," Fairfax Supervisor Penelope A. Gross (D-Mason), whose district includes Fairfax's part of the route, told The Washington Post. "This has a lot of potential."

Today, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted 5:4 to support the second phase of the Silver Line construction, which will bring Metrorail to Dulles Airport and to two planned stations in eastern Loudoun. You can read the full story here at http://www.washingtonpost.com.
