An Initiative for Fairfax County Elementary Schools

madscience_1
CAPs artist Mad Science of Washington.

Your school can expose students during their formative school years to culturally rich experiences through art, dance, music, new media, opera, puppetry, storytelling, and theatre.

The Title One Initiative will introduce CAPs programming to underserved Fairfax County elementary school students by offering FREE arts programming.

About CAPs

CAPs links artists with Fairfax County Public School students.  Since 1983, through live performances and interactive workshops, CAPs encourages life-long learning and self-expression.  In 2011, more than 70 professional performing, visual and literary CAPs artists provided high-quality arts educational supplement for approximately 49,000 students in 75 of 141 Fairfax County elementary schools.

The Arts Council of Fairfax County received the  Fairfax County Public Schools’ Community Partner of the Year Award in recognition for serving Fairfax County youth in 2011.

2011/12 Title One Sponsors

This initiative is underwritten in part by the Dominion Foundation, Mary Jo Ford and Verizon.
