Scott Fridy

Scott Fridy is the Director of Performing Arts and the International Children's Festival. Scott has been working with the Arts Council of Fairfax County for nearly 20 years.  He manages the Arts Council’s annual International Children’s Festival as well as the Creative Arts Programs (CAPs), and the Video Fairfax program.  He is also the staff liaison to performing arts initiatives in Fairfax County such as the Fairfax County Public School’s rent-free program for member arts groups and the newly formed Fairfax County Dance Coalition.  Scott has a degree in Business/Marketing from Penn State and is an active free-lance trombonist is several area performing groups.

Lisa Mariam

Lisa joined the staff of the Arts Council on September 15, 2009 as the the Grants Coordinator. She has lived in the Washington area for most of her life, earning a BA from Georgetown University and an MA in art history with a concentration in museum studies at George Washington University.  She organized travelling exhibitions and coordinated loans at the National Gallery of Art, Washington for 10 years. As an active volunteer in the community, Lisa chairs the PTA cultural arts committe of Longfellow Middle School, leads and coordinates Girl Scout troops at Haycock Elementary, and teaches art appreciation and outdoor education. When she's not at the Arts Council or volunteering at a school, you can find Lisa enjoying performances and exhibitions throughout the region.

Jamel McKelvia

As the Membership Coordinator & Office Manager, Jamel is responsible for maintaining all membership information, retaining current members, attracting new members, and working to create new  benefits and initiatives for the Arts Council. Jamel is orginally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and holds a BFA in Dance with a minor in African American Studies from George Mason University. Prior to joining the Arts Council in August of 2009, Jamel taught for seven years as a first grade teacher, along with teaching jazz, modern, ballet and hip hop in local dance studios. She has experience in pageants, movies and plays, and has performed locally with several dance companies, ministries and teams.

Jamel is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Arts Management at George Mason University, focusing her studies in the areas of marketing and arts education. She expects to graduate in May in 2010.

Henrik Sundqvist

Henrik is the Director of Communications & Visual Arts. He defines, implements, and oversees marketing and branding strategies for both electronic and printed communications for the Arts Council. Henrik has 13 years of combined experience in marketing, design, and communications in addition to a strong visual arts background. He earned an MFA in graphic communications from the University of Engineering & Technology in Mannheim, Germany and a second MFA in painting from the University of Houston, Texas. In the evenings and on weekends he can be found at the Torpedo Factory Art Center printing etchings and silk screens and he continues to exhibit his work nationally.
